Looking At Live Virtual Training Differently
Welcome
My name's David Gibson and I'll be your training facilitator for your workshop, 'Looking At Live Virtual Training Differently'.
Your training website contains all the information that you need for our time together including:
- Dates and times
- Handouts and resources
- Who you'll be working with
Resources will be added following each live episode.
Please watch the 'Welcome' video below, completing the video questionnaire as you go. It will take less than 6-minutes.
Your workshop is made up of:
- 6 live virtual episodes, each one looking at a different part of training and training design.
Please have a workshop or piece of content that you feel will work in the virtual world that you can develop during our time together. Applying ideas directly to your own content does 2 things:
- It helps embed your learning.
- You leave with a completed piece of content ready to go.
Below is a tab for each day we will be working together. It contains the handouts you'll need during your training, so please have these available - either printed or in PowerPoint/Slides at the start of each episode.
We will be using Google Meet for your workshop.
I'm looking forward to starting to work with you on Wednesday 30 April 2025 for 'Is Training the Answer' witht the focus on separating the need-to-know content from the nice-to-know content.
Who You'll Be Working With

- Michael Watkinson
- Piers Kral-Waters

Below is a short video I thought you might find useful in terms of preparing for your workshop.
Episodes
Episode 1
Separating The Need-To-Know Content From The Nice-To-Know Content
Date - Wednesday 30 April 2025
Start time - 09:00 BST
Duration - 90-Minutes
This episode will take you along the path of being able to decide what training can and cannot help achieve and from that, whether training is really the solution to what you (and the organisation) currently see as a performance gap – because training is not the solution to everything.
If training is going to be the solution, then you’ll write the aim of the training. With that aim in mind, we’ll then use a matrix to select the key content that the business needs your learners to start using that they are not using now.
What you'll need to have with you for this episode
- Click here to download your episode placemat (handout)
- Click here to download a blank Priority Matrix template (with explanation).
Your Task
- Analyse any remaining 'Main Tasks' for the training that you're developing.
- Create an 'attention-grabbing' training title and create the title slide within Google Slides.
