Maximising Student Engagement
How to Capture And Hold Your Students Attention from the Start to the End of Each Module
Welcome
My name's David Gibson and I'll be your training facilitator for your workshop series, 'Maximising Student Engagement'.
Your training website contains all the information that you need for our time together including:
- Dates and times
- Venues
- Who you'll be working with
Each of the 3 half-day modules starts at 14:0 and ends at 17:00 CET. Please make your way to the training room (see the tabbed section below), where I'll be waiting to welcome you and ensure your comfort. When you choose your seat, you’ll find yourself in a small group of people to facilitate the frequent group exercises planned. Flipcharts will be provided to record discussions and conclusions. You will be comfortable here.
Please arrive in your training room between 13:30 and 14:00 as your workshop will start promptly at 14:00 am and I don’t want you to miss a thing.
Refreshments will be available throughout your training.
This is a workshop full of structured experiences. Please, do not attend this workshop if what you want is non-stop lecture material. You could get that from a book. Yes, this has great content but come to this for the experiences that become embedded in your mind and body. Our personal goal is that you will ‘own’ the material after your workshop, not just ‘rent it’ for a few days. I want you to learn both implicitly and explicitly. The value you get is more impact and longer-lasting learning.
It is always nice if you're able to take care of personal and work-related business before arriving for your workshop. If you’re able to leave your worries at home, you can devote full attention to the workshop. While some workshops seem to ‘taper off’ during the last hour, Eureka’s workshops go ‘full steam ahead’ up until the final moment. We’ll end on schedule but please do not expect to finish early.
A Request From Me
To help you get the most out of this workshop, please come prepared with a lesson or piece of content that you’d like to redesign. It could be something you know students disengage from or a section that feels a bit 'dry' and could use a fresh, learner-centered approach. By applying ideas directly to your own content, you’ll achieve two things:
- Embed your learning through hands-on application.
- Leave with a revamped, ready-to-go piece of content.
Below is a short video questionnaire I'd like you to watch and complete prior to start of your training. It should take you no longer than 7-minutes to watch the 'welcome' message from me and complete the video questionnaire.
