Oh, I Forgot To Say
A technique for managing sub-groups that are about to complete a task while others are still actively working. This technique can be used for both face-to-face and live virtual training.
How To Use, ‘Oh, I Forgot To Say’
When you observe that one team (or pair) is about to complete their assigned task say, “Oh, I forgot to say, can you also …” then assign them an additional task – ideally that builds upon the task they are about to finish. They’ll think that it was planned as the new task is related to what they are already working on.
The main benefit is that this maintains the ongoing engagement of the quicker teams as other teams complete the original task. Typically, when the quicker teams finish, they start doing other things not related to the training eg in virtual training they start responding to eMail etc.
